Name changes for Charitable Incorporated Organisations
Your charity is a charitable incorporated organisation. If your new name contains a sensitive word or expression you must get the approval of Companies House first before using this service. See The Company, Limited Liability Partnership and Business Names (Sensitive Words and Expressions) Regulations 2014. The exception to this is if the sensitive word is ‘charity’, ‘charitable’, ‘association’, ‘foundation’ or ‘trust’, when the approval of Companies House is not required.
If the new name suggests a connection with Government, such as a government department, a devolved administration, a local authority or a public authority, as specified by The Company, Limited Liability Partnership and Business (Names and Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2015, you must get the approval of Companies House first before using this service.
You will not be able to use this service to tell us about the name change. You need to tell us about the change using our enquiry form
